I was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, California and moved to Jamestown, North Dakota as an 8th grader. After graduating from high school, I went to college at the University of South Dakota where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. I began teaching Special Education at Hastings Middle School in March 1994. I went on to get my Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities from University of Wisconsin- River Falls in 1999 and in 2005 I received my Educational Administration Licensure from St. Mary's University- Twin Cities. I taught Special Education from 1994-2011. From 2011-2014 I coordinated and taught the You in the Middle class. In the fall of 2014, I moved to the blue pod where I began teaching 5th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. In addition to teaching, I am the Student Council Adviser at HMS and I am also one of the U Crew Advisers at HMS. I also was the Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Hastings High School from 1997-2003. During the winter you can find me working Sunday's as a supervisor in the Ski School at Buck Hill.
My husband Jon and I have three children. Jamie graduated from Concordia University in St. Paul with Criminal Justice degree and works for Life Flight as a 911 Dispatcher. Jonathan is a graduate of St. Thomas and is a Financial Analyst for an online marketing firm and Bryan is a graduate of DCTC in Rosemount and works as a Civil Engineering Technician for an engineering firm in Arlington, TX.
Our two other "children" are our two Cocker Spaniels, Maggie and Cooper.
